Everglow

They say people come
Say people go
This particular diamond was extra special

I put an video here. Because I really like it and hope you can listen.

I don’t remember if it’s last year or the year before this time, I looped this song hundreds of times. And when it comes close to the end of this Lunar year, I listened to it over and over again. The lyrics are so beautiful, just like a poem and I can easily feel what behind the language itself, which means if it’s translated into Chinese or any other language, it would be exactly the same touching.

The translation

But many versions of translation are extremely bad. I don’t get why they try to interpret ‘This particular diamond’ as old memory or a particular women. It’s an IMPLIED METAPHORS and when you translate it you should keep the original rhetorics. And people can understand this IMPLIED METAPHORS , they are not stupid.

Heres is an Japanese anecdote:

The author Natsume Soseki, in his life as an English teacher, supposedly saw his students translate “I love you” word-for-word. Soseki told them that’s not Japanese (too direct) and that “the moon is beautiful” would be the appropriate translation (alone with a lady on a moonlit night, context says it all).
今夜の月は綺麗ですね

The anecdote may be made up, and it’s even not a Chinese story. But I think the Chinese is like the Japanese in some way so we should be indirect. If the original words are 'This woman was like a particular diamond that was extra special ’ it should be translated to an INDIRECT way, not vise versa!

Relation with me

You know, we may all have some friends or lovers end up being separated. I never have a lover but I do have some friends. Although we may never go back together, I still cherish the moments we have and hope they are all well. I’m sorry for my bad and or even nobody is bad but the relation just don’t work out in the end, I’m still very sorry. I do like the happy memories. They are like diamonds.
